RUNNING & WALKING

The runs will take place on the actual Parkway.  Participants in the half-marathon will receive dry-weave shirts and finishers’ medals.  Those registered for the 5K and 1 mile will receive a cotton t-shirt. Finishers medals will be presented in the half marathon. Finishers medals will be presented in the 5K to the first 750 registered. All others will receive a commemorative gift. The runs provide a unique opportunity for you, but also some challenges to plan for:

  • The road is 100% concrete, grooved horizontally
  • Overpasses have multiple, 4″ wide expansion joints
  • There is no shade except for the occasional underpass
  • Care should be taken on overpasses to avoid guard rails
  • A four-hour time limit for the half-marathon allows for safe, shared use of the road by our faster cyclists finishing in the same location
  • Buses will provide transportation to the start line for the half marathon
  • Finishers medals will be presented in the half-marathon
  • We’re sorry, but we can’t allow strollers or dogs in the races
